    George Crosby Manitou campsite recommendations?

    Hi all...

I'm going to be doing a section of the SHT in two weeks and plan on staying in Manitou for one night. Im going to make a reservation for the campsite and currently they are all open for our expected arrival date.

I know we have alot of experienced SHT backpackers here and would like your comments on the best site in Manitou. Im looking for a site thats not right on the trail with access to water and possible Tenkara fishing. Of course good trees for hanging are a must! If you could let me know your favorite site to camp at, thst would be great.

    Thanks.

Are you wanting to stay close to the SHT or diverting a bit?

Prefer to stay close to the trail, but not right on it with other hikers going through it. Hopefully that exists?

Yea my favorite is 15 but it's a ways down there. 3 and 4 aren't bad with an emphasis on 3. They are actually downhill from the trail and close to the river. 5 and 7 are decent but within earshot of the trail if I remember right. 6 is a fun site as its up on top of the hill but not the most spacious or well set up. Not able to reserve either and no where close to the river. I'd avoid site 8 and 9 the trail practically cuts right through them.

enjoy! The SHT is an amazing trail. That section from crosby-manitou to caribou wayside is my favorite along the entire trail. Horseshoe ridge is just spectacular and the trail dips deep into the back country.
