My DIY hammock setup - video

Here is a short video showing my DIY hammock, bug net, ridgeline organizer, bishop bag, straps and UCR suspension.

Nice demo. The bishop bag pocket to keep the outside whoopie sling in order is a good idea.

Like the rock pockets in the bug net. Was thinking about that and it's nice to see how it works. Thanks, doogie!

The bug net really works well, check out my trip report video from last summer when I gave it a real test.

Lovin' the pocket on the stuffsack as well. Was envisioning how to copy it and then you showed us the bottom! Thanks man.

One question for this type of bugnet: Any issues with bugs crawling up it from the ground? We have a bunch of creative critters in FL!

Very nice setup, I would also like to know if the bugs get in for the bottom. Also odd you treat your hammock\bugnet with any bug repellant?

First a little clarification on the bishop bag bottom. I forgot to mention that I just made a button hole to pass the suspension through. The only tricky part is making sure that all of your pieces are facing the right way when you're stitching it so that it's all clean and in the right order when you turn it back right side out.

As far as critters climbing up, I have had a few earwigs make their way into the Velcro/gathered end knot area (I think they came down the suspension), but as long as I make sure that the hammock is hung high enough that the bug net does not touch the ground I have not had an issue. One time recently I was hung a little low (one corner touching) and I had a few daddy long leg spiders waiting for me when I came to bed. The time that it is most vulnerable is when it is unoccupied since the seal is not very good then, but then there is nothing to draw biting insects when it's unoccupied.

Thanks! It's a really nice setup. I'm converting my rig to use the same type of BugNet, I'd like to try some of your ideas including the pocket on the end of the Bishop bag. It seemed like you have a separate bag for your straps and marlin spikes, do you put that inside the Bishop bag as well?
