Suppose that I want to make a hammock like this:

(Correct me if I'm wrong, I think that's a type of Mayan...)
What would be the best way to go about attaching the lines to the hammock? I'm thinking of hemming webbing along the edge, and then sewing webbing loops to the webbing, and stringing it up through those loops. Would that work? How far apart should the loops be to support ~120lbs?

My original Byer Mosquito hammock was this style. It's rated to 250lb. Mine doesn't have any webbing at the loops. It's double thick nylon with button hole stitching at loops, and single layer for the body.. I thing they're about 1" to 1 1/4" apart. The tricky part looks to be how the cordage is braided to make the hanging loop. I think the cordage is parachute cord.
It's comfy. On a diagonal lay it hangs very similar to my hennessey clone if you remove the outriggers. It weighs in at under a pound also. The hanging cords do need to be untangled each time (tangled is the wrong word really. You just have to flip the hanging loop back through the cords correctly to get them lined up agai when you unpack it.
