    NY > Adirondacks> Hanger friendly campgrounds/sites?

Trying to plan a Sept. trip for a mid-week or long weekend hang with some newbies and not so newbies, and needing to find some hang friendly areas. Anyone have any suggestions? Car camping is the preferred method.

    Thanks!

Moose River Plains Wild Forest.. hands down. No fees, it's a first come first serve area.. Mid week, you should have 90% of the sites open. Hammock friendlly, Blueberries should be about out (watch for bear) and moose. Trout fishing is amazing back there too

All but a handful of sites are drive in. Most have tree coverage enough for hammocks, and they're spaced out enough to spill into the surrounding woods.. We had 5 hammocks up there about a month ago.

Shoot me a PM if you'd like more detailed maps, but the National Geographics map #744 is the best carry in map

Thats because about 20 years ago, they had a problem with people not being able to tell the difference between road bikes, and dirt bikes (which were never allowed) I remember when the motorcycle ban went into effect. My father was My father and I used to take his Harley up, and my uncle would haul all the gear.

You can take a bike up until the parking area at the cedar river flow, and either hike in, or find someone to ride in with.

===> Hi Joanne! I will be camping at the Mills-Norrie State Forest just outside of Hyde Park, NY for a week the week of the 18th of August. Feel free to come by, hang or visit! I am taking an intensive cooking Boot Camp at the Culinary Institute of America nearby. Class isn't until 2:00 PM, so I have all the mornings free.

Chaaz, maybe I'll get to do that! Plans are still up in the air right now. Going on a recon to the area in the morning to see what's what. At this time, I don't know if I'll have the whole week to play, or just a few days. I'll shoot you a PM if I'll be in the area.
