Apparently the seller was on the river for a month. After that length of time I was rather optimistic for a positive outcome, so I finally started emailing. We are now communicating and hopefully things will work out.

I am new here, but made many purchase on a blade forum and they have a rating system setup only in the buy/sell/trade areas to rate the transaction, seller, buyer, or trader. Seems to work well over there, but online sales from individuals always seem to have some inherent danger of going south. So if you were to visit the B?S?T section in that forum you could see every persons rating near their name. Just a thought as I don't know if that is possible with this forums setup or not.
Hate to hear about people getting burned. It is one of the reasons I detest making purchases with Paypal as a gift.
