Been here several months and have over 100 nights in my Warbonnet XLC SL 1.7. What a fantastic ride….
Decided to make a “warm weather” quilt but didn’t have the Thread Injector (TI) skills for a Down underquilt so I tried the Insultex 3-layer differential design posted by: sclittlefield at https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Underquilt-DIY .
I know… photos or it didn’t happen so here goes…

I put some 1.1 Ripstop in Coyote Brown (very nice color) on both sides for durability. Not too much of a challenge to build but took about a day to make since I have little skill… you know, sew a foot, remove 6 inches, sew a foot remove a foot, etc…(Im a perfectionist unfortunately...) However, I slept in it last night and it was a Very Warm (60* degrees with direct vent air from the AC). I started to sweat a little at the beginning until my body slowed down for sleeping and then I was comfortable until 9 hours later… when I woke up… what a night’s sleep!
Final measurements are 48x62, weight is 16oz…(slightly modified from the plans) It covers from my neck to my ankles… I use a thermarest seat pad for a pillow so my head and neck never get cold even when Im using my HG Uncubator so there was no change for me aside from the reflectix pad (shug’s videos) under my footbox of the TQ.
All in all I am very satisfied with the design and warmth and will use is as a loaner or a utility when I'm at home (I'm fulltime hanger) so I don't tear up my down UQ. That said, I appreciate everyone's posts on the subject as I know I have read many of them and used them as a guide when I get lost. (happens more often than not).
Thanks
