Highest Altitude Hang?

Another thread I have been following on hanging on a hiking staff got me thinking about this. Thought it might be fun to see.

What is your highest altitude hang?

Mine has been previously dictated by the tree line. I've got somewhere around 12,000ft as my highest altitude hang. That was in Painters Basin in the High Uintas just after scaling kings peak here in Utah.

No clue what my actual altitude has been. I've hung above tree line a couple/few times trying to work out a way to hang on top of a fourteener. Probably between 12,000 and 13,000'.

I forget you are just on the other side of the range. We've only got a handful of 14ers over here. I don't know if I'd want to spend a night on the top of one. It'd be cool to say I have.

Was about 1530' above sea level. Northern Minnesota just doesn't offer much in the way of mountains....

I don't think it would be a very good night of sleep, but yeah, it'd be cool to say I did it.

Hardly worth mentioning, but I think about !0,500 feet is about it, in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. Tree line is a tad lower up there I think. Of course tree line altitude varies with exposure and north facing slope vs south/west facing slope, as well as how far north you are..

BTW,( if memory serves) except for a very few in CA and one in WA, I don't think there are ANY fourteeners outside of CO. Although the Uintas are very close at about roughly 13,500, and Wyoming's Wind Rivers even a tad closer at 13,800( Gannet(SP?) peak.

I've hung over 6,000 ft which is about as good as you can do around here.

Mt Mckinley in Alaska, not that I have hung there.

Yep I think Kings peak is the highest it gets in Utah at 13,528'. Here is a list of U.S peaks above 14,000' http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0001798.html

Road yeah that's right. There are a couple in California and Washington. Utah has 8 of the most prominent (prominence over 5000ft), but on actual distance from sea level we are lacking compared to CO. I forget that Utah gives up at 13,5. It is a spectacular 13,5 though, but you have to pick a time of year when it isn't covered by scouts.
