Ok so my last few trips that I planned in the spring got canceled due to a new job but I have my vacation days submitted and approved so no more having to bail on my own trips. lol...
With that said, me and my best friend DayGlow have decided to do a Hike-N-Hang on the Slabcamp Run/Locust Spring trail. We will both be testing new gear so we decided to do a river run this time in exchange for the vistas. This is supposed to be a fairly easy trail to hike with limited elevation gain compared to other trails. The trail length is only 9.4 miles and will be spaced out over 3 days. We plan to not plan our campsite locations and rather hike until we feel like stopping and setup camp. Last few trips we went on, we used this style of hiking and ended up having a blast. We generally just take turns leading the hike so that we each get a chance to set the pace. The helps us not to tire one another. I wanted to post this here just in case there was anybody here interested in this style of backpacking. We would all need to coordinate a time to meet up at the trail head so that we could all hike together and decide on a campsite location as a group. This style of backpacking does not work too well with larger groups but wanted so see if there was a few that wanted to try it out. Please keep in mind that night-hiking is a possibility. Just depends how much time we spend chatting with other hikers on the trail and goofing off.
We all just hike until we feel like stopping and find some decent trees to hang on and make camp. No plans other than the start time.
