    Question: Underquilt attachment points

To reduce the amount of cord that can try to tangle with other cord, I propose to attach loops to my gathered end hammock about 44" from the midpoint of the hammock, rather than continue to suspend it from the hammock suspension. Picture below.
I'm sure I didn't think of this first?

Does anyone see any problem with this?

    Has this failed for anyone?

That is how I recently set up my summer hammock and quilt. My hammock came with Dutch hooks attached to the hammock body. I added line locs to the corners of my UQ, with shock cord, with a double overhand knot on one end, going from the line locs and hooking over Dutch hooks. It seems to work well in lab testing but I haven't had a chance to take it out for field testing. If it works well I'll be doing the same thing to my other quilts and hammocks. Sgt Rock has a setup with loops on his hammock and, I think, hooks on the corners of his quilt eliminating all or almost all cord.

For complete adjustability, I've been attaching mine to the ridgeline.

I've added loops along the sides of a hammock and use either mini-biners or a bit of shock-cord to keep TQs and UQs where I want them. Havent yet removed the standard suspension....may try that.

Thanks, folks. This will help reduce tangle. I knew others got there first. Baby steps, baby steps.

WRT the ridgeline attachment: complete adjustability I don't need, as the 88" between hang points on the hammock suffices for even a full length 72" underquilt. I only need remind myself that the seam ripper stands at attention and ready for action 24/7.

This revision also makes the underquilt more adaptable to my diy bridge hammock, with its shorter length. Detailed diagram below.
