Newbie in North Georgia

Hello all,
Just got into hammock camping this year. Started with a Yukon Outfitters my wife got me for Christmas. Even though it wasn't perfect, it sure beat the heck out of sleeping on the ground. Tried it for the first time on a 16 mile backpacking trip in the Cohutta Wilderness (north Georgia) with my son's scout troop. The best two nights of sleep I've had backpacking. Came home and ordered a Warbonnet XLC based mostly on the info from this forum, and also some youtube reviews. Now I'm just waiting for it to come in.

Welcome to the forum. Keep your eyes peeled for a North Ga Hang sometime in the fall. It's a good place to meet some great people and learn a lot of things you didn't know you wanted to know.

Welcome aloft from Modoc, SC. You just missed a great hang this past weekend at Burrell's Ford. There is a hang in 2 weeks at Murrell's Inlet, SC just south of Myrtle Beach. Come hang out with the Palmetto State Hangers. You will truly enjoy it.

Welcome. Good to see another Cherokee County hanger although I am a few years removed from Cherokee. There are a few more near you in Ball Ground, Free Home, and Woodstock that I know of. You will meet great people at the hangs no matter which state they reside in. When H.F. folks hang their hammock they are home. I have hung in Ga., S.C. and N.C. the past 2 years and hope to get Va. and Fla. in the next 6 months. With a few repeats in the previously mentioned states. Again, welcome and happy hanging. And thank you for being a friend of youth.

Peabody, welcome to the forums, and to hammock camping. Some of us have gotten carried away and have let hammocks take over, I have been a full time hanger for a couple years now, no end in sight. Your name is not too ordinary, and I used to work with a Peabody while we built some big roads north of Atlanta. Sure would be cool if you are that same guy.
