I picked up this 1955 Pfaff 230 over the weekend for $15. I had accidentally locked the mechanism up, if you run the machine with the end cover off the needle threader can slip into a slot on the needle bar stopping it from moving. The main problem with the machine is that it is just the machine. I need to pick up some low shank feet, but that shouldn't be hard. The main question I have is what I'm missing in the bobbin area. I know I need bobbins and a bobbin case. What I'm not sure about is if I'm missing anything else down there. I think there might be an old and new style of bobbin race, but I'm not sure. As you can see from the picture, there is no center pin. So, am I missing parts, or is that how it's supposed to be? If there are different styles, how do I know that I'm getting the correct bobbin case?
The ZZ dial is frozen up. What points need the oil to free that up?
On a side note. Are foot peddles interchangeable between brands? I'd really like to drop this into a Singer cabinet I have and use the knee lever, but I'd have to wire the Pfaff to a Singer peddle that would fit the bracket in the cabinet.
