Going to nc mtns and the low is mid to upper fifties
Not sure what bag to use. I have a lafuma x600 (55 degree bag)
Mtn hardware 35. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have anything underneath you? Like a ccf pad?

Id grab the 35 degree bag, id rather have it and vent it if its too warm than not have it and wish i did!

Sleeping bags alway give you "extra" since they're much bulkier than a quilt which is made for a hammock. I found I can go much lower with a sleeping bag in a hammock. Last winter, it was 3°F and my 20° rated bag was plenty. Lots of extra down on top of me. Plus you probably have extra clothes, a fleece or jacket just in case.
I agree with bringing the 35. The ratings are just the temps you would survive in, not what you would be comfortable in.
35* bring, the ratings are low end with the assumption you've got proper shelter, clothing, and a full belly. I bring a 20* tq for anything over 40*,
35* bag. I was out last night in Pisgah Nat Forest with a zlite and 27 year old 20* bag and was very comfortable. I debated taking a fleece bag but glad I went with the heavier option.
The only reason not to take the warmer bag is the weight penalty, and then it comes down to how much weight and how far. I prefer to be warm and sleep.
