    Yes really. In addition to using the line loc, you are now also using another knot to make sure it doesnt slip, which it will if used on the ridgeline, especially if wet. Thats an extra step and negates some benefits of using the line loc in the first place.

    I use line locs on all my tie out points because they are dead easy to use and the full length of line can be used. However, they do need a larger diameter cord to hold securely on a ridgeline, and people should be aware of this. More weight with larger cord to use it easily, or less weight with smaller cord with another required knot.

    i use zing-it/lash-it, then i finish with a slippery hitch, usually around the "waist" of the lineloc (narrow spot in the middle) so it doesn't get sucked into the underside, then it's a pain to get out.
