Hey guys, new to the forum and hammocks in general but not new to the outdoors and hiking. Id love to go on this hang with this group.

I did the Taum Sauk section back in March when I was still a ground dweller. Love the Ozark Trail.

What kind of mileage do you expect to do daily? I haven't hiked all summer, I kayak/camp in the hot months.

we would love to have you... we don't hike in the hot months either!
I am sure Disco will respond, but it is generally 12 ish miles per day sometimes a little more.

Thanks. 12mi/day doesn't sound bad, but I also haven't put in a decent hike in the last 3-4 months lol, so I may change my tune. Also wanted to add that I can make it on Friday.

Let's get another section of the OT under our belts!

I'm open to whatever the group wants to do here....we can either do Friday - Sunday and make the hike longer, or just do Saturday - Sunday and only do the first 14 miles. Let's see how many can get off Friday.

    Maps here: http://www.ozarktrail.com/maps.php?mtid=4

It should be a great time as usual!

    Hi Disco,
I am new to this forum, and would be great to join you guys if I can. I want to be clear of something here. Is the total distance from start to finish 14 miles? or you guys plan on doing 14 miles a day?

It looks like most are ok with doing a 3-day hike so let's plan on meeting Friday morning. If we hike from the Onondaga TH to the Berryman TH, that's 34 miles (about 11 a day). I think that is manageable and would be a fun hike. The entire Courtois section is 48 miles, or 16 miles per day. That would be a rough weekend. I'd rather have more time in camp and to visit. How does that sound?

Three days sounds good and so does 11 per day; first main hike for me as well coming off a "fat" summer.

Looking forward to meeting some of you new guys; that's always a real plus!

There is no real parking at the Onondaga Cave OT start. (there is a grass strip that might hold 2 cars) It is not safe to park your car at the Onondaga Cave parking lot across the river. Ozark Outdoors company (river rafting company) is right at the start of the trail and charges a small fee to park your cars securely in their parking lot.
Will we shuttle everyone from Berryman back to Onondaga? and then we can return a few people to their cars at Ozark Outdoors?

I was thinking we would all meet at the Berryman parking lot, then pile into 1 or 2 cars and drive over to Onondaga or Ozark Outdoors. I'm going to make a few phone calls this week to get more info. I'll post an exact plan by the end of the week.
