Suggestions on good overnight spot for me and my son this weekend....?

Just trying to get more ideas for a good hammock camping spot for at least Saturday night(maybe Friday night as well). My son is 8 so I'm thinking a swimming hole/spot would be nice but would also like wherever we hang to have a nice open vista view. Would like to keep the drive time down to about 3 hours from Columbia, SC. If no good ideas come about then we will probably just do Looking Glass Rock in Pisgah. Having said that, my son has already tackled some decent mileage in the past few years(more recently the Rich Mountain loop around Hot Springs, 12-13 miles) so some hiking is not a problem BUT I would also consider a campground IF it offers somewhat secluded hammock camping).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Wallyrob was thinking of taking his two boys back there this weekend. You might want to PM him and see if they are going. There are several campsites with rock fire rings in the same area, yet spread out so as to allow privacy and seclusion. The river was nice and cool for taking a dip.

I concur, Burrells Ford is a nice place to hang, also nice trout fishing and Kings Creek Falls is a short hike and the Foothills trail is on the other side of the parking lot.
