    gear junky issues

how hard can it be to sell gear not used, and probably never will use? do I need 4 tents? not really, maybe one day when I want to cozy up with someone for sleeping outside. do I need 4 hammocks? I only use 2 of them so no. why cant I sell one? after all, I will be using it to go towards another tarp or quilt. I want to sell to get other gear quicker, but....can't. I know most people on here are that way, "collectors", but why is it hard to sell what I have never used to get stuff I will mostly use?

Not being from a pet free smoke free environment, once I get it, it's pretty much here to stay. Use em as loaners. People are glad to have use of them in a pinch. Especially when it means the difference betweeen having to watch me comfortably swaying in the breeze, while they are still picking up sticks and kicking rocks out of the way.

I know exactly how you feel. I find a stove that I have not had and want it. I have 8 other ones. Then something new comes out. Hammocks and tarps and stuff. How many does one need? Except for one with alter egos, you can only sleep in one hammock at a time. Water purifiers, cook sets, sleeping bags, tents, the list goes on.

I guess it is like women with pocket books. You can only carry one at a time and it does not really matter what it looks like, but my wife needs a new one almost every month. This only allows me to get more stuff I do not need. A sickness for sure.

I agree 100 percent. It seems that there is always a point that I somewhat regret that I sold an item. It may not be in the near future but it does happen. I have more than one of everything even though I have my favorites that I use all the time. It's a sickness!

I prefer to call it a zest for gear. I am always on the hunt for new gear, territory, and experiences, therefore I am a collector of each.

Oh boy do I know that feeling.... I don't think there's a cure, who was it that said "the only way to overcome a temptation is to succumb to it" or something to that effect.. Hey, at least our vice is a (physically) healthy one!
