What should I use for my cf tarp?
Edit: Oops, I mean like this, you know, the thing you use to attach the shock cord to?

I'm a fan of knots and simple lightweight pegs. Recently I've been using 2' of lightweight shock cord and tied to the corners with simple prussik knots tied in to adjust to the peg.

I saw an old thread where WV (the HF member not the entire state) had made some locked Brummel loops in the ends of 50 pound test Dacron Braided Kite line. I always wanted to try this. 50 - 80 pound test braided fishing line works but it tangles very easily and if you use shrubs etc as ground stake replacements (which also saves pack weight) then this super thin line cuts into the shrub or dead log on the ground or buried "dead man" etc. So tech line as sold by DIYgearsupply.com may be a more reasonable compromise. But generally the thinner and lighter you go there are minor issues as I mentioned above but fairly simple solutions to deal with these so not a big deal. Obviously for a tarp RL it may be wise not to go lighter than lash-it or something similar. Just my 2 cents. I like to mess around until "stuff gets broke" in a thunderstorm and then I say "well that was not my best idea". LOL
Edit: the old timer's or "new" bushcrafter's replacement for tarp shock cord is tying to a sapling or shrub that bends in the wind. Or remembering to cut some willow branches when you hike by them as you approach your intended campsite. Stick them in the ground in an effective angle and tie to those, no dang sun rotting shock cord in you Backpack will be required. The first nations people who pass by might even make comments about you not having spent your entire life in Suburbia. LOL

Edit bump.
I have no experiecne with cuben but I thought cuben is not too stretchy so shock cord is not necessary to maintain a taut pitch?
Don't let life get in the way of living.
1/16th inch braided (not twisted) mason twine is the lightest I've ever used on any tarp. I didn't like it because it was too small to reasonably tie knots in, so I've gone back to 3/16th inch braided cord or sometimes paracord (though the paracord is too thick and I don't like how the outer casing slides around) if I have to add any length to a tie out. One of my tieouts is a piece of reflective Kelty Triptease Lightline.
