Mental Block: Still Use Old Cord Instead of New Stuff

Maybe I'm a hoarder. I've bought some guywire, but it's hard to bring myself to cut the new cord.

I guess I'm the same with rags.....I buy new towels, but hardly ever use them because I make the old rags work.

Should I just throw out all my mismatched types of string, rope, cord, twine, etc. and start life anew?

Is anyone else stuck on this island? Do I need an intervention where I am restrained and all the old stuff is burned in front of my cries?

The first cut is the hardest.

I used to bring the blue shop towels in my backpack for clean up but never used them until I started cutting them into quarters. Now I feel much better about using them.

I'm the same. I had hundreds of feet of paracord before I started hanging. I know it's a little bulky and can be stretchy, but hey, it's what I had. I made all of my ridgelines and guy lines from it. It works.

I have since purchased about 150ft of zing-it, and have yet to use any.

I've always had 5-600' of paracord laying around in various colors. Yesterday my Zingit and Lashit came in from Dutch, I cut the paracord from my Warbonnet fly and replaced it. The paracord worked just fine but it was bulky, the new stuff rolls up super small.

The moment I decided to lighten my pack, it was an easy decision..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

If he's doing this with new new stuff, let me be the first to say:

I took the first step yesterday. I made up some new guy lines with zing it and short pieces of shock cord for auto tensioners. Next step is actually putting them on the tarps 😀
