The lake intrigues me, I'd like to explore it from a kayak if anyone else would join me.

We did that last year...it is small, but nice. I wouldn't haul the big boat up for it...the XP9 would do fine.

Planning to be there. What trail are you planning in the Cranberry?

If people can only do a one-nighter (Sunday to Monday) and haven't already done this loop, I figured starting from the Scenic Highway and doing Big Beechy Trail and the Middle Fork Trail, choosing which trail to start on according to the weather forecast. If some can spend more time, there are lots of other options. I'm open to suggestions.

No worries, Cakes. Watoga alone is worth the trip. Saturday's hike could be quite a long loop or a short one. Now that I think of it, a dayhike in the Cranberry on Sunday is a possibility, too. It would be on your way home if you took a more westerly route. I expect most people will have jobs to get to on Monday, but hope one or two can get Monday off. (Ferret, are you reading this?)

My parents took my 3 kids, and their 2 cousins, on a 10 day RV trip from NC to MD and back. This was the 3rd or 4th time they stayed at Watoga and it remains my kids' favorite. A Scout commitment conflicts with this trip otherwise we'd be looking at this trip or the Hot Springs one the same weekend.

Just about two weeks to go. Nice to see some familiar names and one or two new folks. I'll post an update a day or so before. There should be plenty of good campsites available with nice hammock trees, but I'll stop by to check anyway.
