I can work in some time on any of those weekends, so I went ahead and checked 'em all. I will say, October might be a little warmer than November, though.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of the HF folks.

I threw my vote into the pot for both Oct 10th and 17th... What's the weather like up there that time of year? Hopefully I'll not need an underquilt yet!

You'll be wanting an underquilt or at least a decent pad in October in Northern MN. The Average temps for October are mid to upper 50's for highs and upper 30's to low 40's for lows.

    Update

Just got home and looking over my master calendar and the Oct. 10 weekend is doable for me but a bit tight on the backside. By that I mean that I would have to bail early to get home as I have to get on the road for a South Carolina trip. More that likely I would just go up early to the SHT ... like Thursday .... and meet anyone up there on whenever.

And now the Nov. 14th weekend is looking better for my schedule. More than likely go up that weekend one way or the other!!!!!!

I mean to be there on Thursday as well, probably very late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. I was thinking of hiking Thursday - Sunday, but bail early on Sunday morning, similar to the NCT trip. I would hope for the last nights hang to be very near the vehicles, so I wouldn't have to hike a half day to get out.

Did you ever find out about the Gun Deer season, and whether or not the trails are open on Nov 14th? I know I've been too busy (and lazy) to look.

As far as I can see on their site it is not posted yet. Not being a hunter ..... I know the season is around that time but not sure of the exact.
    We will find out......

I've emailed the SHTA office to get more information about what sections of the trail may be closed or otherwise during the gun hunting season. I'll post the reply here when I get an answer.
