Interpreting the needle spec for Juki 8700

I'm looking to upgrade from Grandma's 1970's Archer (Singer clone) and have been looking at the Juki 8700. I'm wondering how flexible this machine is when it comes to various needle and thread sizes. When I look at the spec sheet, the needle spec reads DB×1 (#14) #9~#18,134 (Nm90). I know DBx1 is the designation for the type of needle that fits most industrial straight stitch machines like the Juki. Does #9~#18 mean this machine will accept needles as small as #9 and as large as #18? Does anyone know the significance of the #14 and it's equivalent Nm90 being in parentheses? Is that just what the stock machine is set up for coming out of the factory? And what does 134 mean?
