    Glad To Be Here

Hello my name is Lance and Ive been an avid hiker for many years. I have been noticing a lot of people hammock Camping in the Adirondacks in Upstate NY and wondered why. I hike the Northville Placid Trail a lot and saw that alot of hikers didnt use the lean tos as much as they used to, instead they are using a hammock. I found a Hammock on sale, Hammock Bliss No see um no more, and a tarp for very cheap so I purchased them and Ive been hooked. I have found Hammock Forums very informative and the fellow members friendly. Happy Trails everyone see you on the trail.

Welcome, from Florida! Once you sleep in a hammock, you can never go back to ground. Beautiful country up there to hike in!

Welcome from the lower side of the nation. That screen name wouldn't have anything to do with a Dodge would it?

Welcome to a HF. You should find all the information you need to hang successfully and several dozen different ways to do it effectively here at HF. On the rare occasion that there is nothing to hang from you can use a simple custom made ground cloth to protect the bottom and "go to ground" like a bivy. Or use it as a bugnet in a shelter. Most challenging item is the bottom insulation if it were not for that hammocks would have been used widely across N.A. over 100 years ago.
