Marathon Lake 8/16-17

We went, with one goal. Relax. So we did. It's a nice place with multiple shower and bathroom huts, pavilions for the gatherings, and a cordoned off swimming area in the lake.WP_20140816_023.jpgWP_20140816_034.jpg
After selecting a nice siteWP_20140816_019.jpg and getting the hammocks up, we took a walk down to the lake WP_20140816_003.jpg and were rewarded with views like these. WP_20140816_037.jpg It was a great time with a little fishing, a little conversating, and a whole lot of not much else. Mission accomplished.

Great! I'm already plotting the next one. Thinking about getting a hike in somewhere. Car camping has it's place, but a little distance would be nice for a change. Plus, no fee.

Ever hiked the black creek trail? I've canoed black creek, but never hiked the trail

It's coming up in the next six months. I'm about to go do Shockaloe, after that black creek will be in the crosshairs.

Looks like great place for a group hang. How was the fishing?

Not good on the day we went, but we heard fish tales of epic proportions. It would be a reasonable place for a hang, being well equipped with tables, water, and power at each site. A few sites may be better, but I would estimate two to three hammocks per site without needing to go bunk bed style. There is a trail around the lake, but I didn't use it this time. One downside, is it's first come basis, no reservations if I remember correctly.
