Hi,
I recently found out about woven Hammocks. So with rope instead of fabric.

I have one or two, they are comfortable to lay on but tend to be a bit narrow, and the bed portion is never as long as you would want it to be. That said, there are some larger ones on the market and are reported to be very comfortable, even a hammock of choice for many every night users.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.
I haven't tried this type of hammock, yet. If you search for "Mayan hammock" and "Cannibal" you'll find some useful information. I seem to remember that he said that you will need to spend quite a bit of money if you want a decent Mayan.
EZbreezy did a great comparison of a Brazilian hammock and a Mexican hammock here. Based on her report I bought a Mexican woven hammock. It's huge, and the quality is great.
Thanks for all the advice people. really appreciated!!

I sleep in one every night, an it's wonderful! the smaller sizes are more for relaxing or taking a nap. If you want a bed go for the jumbo, or at least the king size... the biggest you can afford basically.
I spent a year living in Honduras about 20 years ago picked one up when I was there to sleep in
so kinda that Central American Mexican style very comfy in hot weather used it in the islands a lot also
did not like the snags and catches on things
liked the weave in hot humid weather very breasy compared with solid fabrics
liked that sometimes the pressure points are less since the weave spreads a bit
I never slept with anything on me or under me though since I was always in super hot muggy locations
have not pulled mine out in years though
