    Hello from North New Jersey

    Hi All,

I'm just learning about hammock camping. Been camping a little all my life and just getting into tent camping big time with my son as he's a scout. This of course makes sure that I have to take my daughter out camping since he gets to go all the time. It's a hard life camping so much but it's a burden that I must bare. We camp all seasons no matter the weather. So I'm looking into a hammock that can handle this. Being located in North New Jersey we get all types of weather and conditions. Backpacking camping is in the works so being light is a plus. Bug netting is also something I would like.

I've been watching the video's and doing some ready at the ULTIMATE HANG.

The boy and I did a 5 day canoe trip down the Susquehanna river in PA, this July. We did 53.5 miles with a group and got to camp out on the islands which was great. I must say it was a great time to be with my son. Can't wait to do it again. So of course a few of us got talking about doing backpack camping. I've been looking at hammocks for a while. I do have a nice 4 season tent but it is heavy. So here I am to learn more about the different ones out there and which would be best for me.

    Teach me,
    DG

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. A great way to accelerate the learning curve is to go to a group hang. You can see different hammocks, tarps, quilts and suspensions that people use. There's one coming up at Stokes State Forest in October.
