Buying a winter tq - Help

I am trying to decide on a top quilt for winter. My choices are

Hammock Gear 0 Burrow $279
Warbonnet Mamba tq winter $290 or
Underground flight jacket 0 degree. $234

What is your experience with these? Your recommendations?

well I know UGQ is phenomenal and has fantastic customer service. they made my -40 zeppelin and 30* TQ and UQ. made the girlfriends combo and Whiskeyjack has a bunch for his family...growing reputation as they should have. also most choice in fabrics. I do have a 0*TQ from wilderness logics which I used nicely last winter. just to add to your list.

My winter quilts are UGQ's and my 3 season quilts are WB. I don't own any Hammock Gear quilts but have seen them up close. They are all well made. It may boil down to price and from whom you can get it the quickest.

For what's it's worth .... I have top quilts that I love for 3 season use but I just received an REI Radiant sleeping bag to use as an extra TQ for friends. They are EN rated to 19 degrees and are on sale for $139 ! I reordered another one this morning. It has 600 down fill. Something to consider for the price. Sale ends Sept 1

I just looked at that... yeah, about that 19 degree rating, I had a Lafuma bag once that I guess used those same ratings - was supposed to go down to 32, but it was cold at 50. I'd like to think REI is probably accurate to the comfort rating of 32F - have no idea why there would be separate men's and women's ratings, which I think can be ignored, especially since they don't give a comfort rating for men, or an extreme rating for women. So, its a good 3-season bag, but heavy considering a quilt weighs have as much. If it truly fits your need, then its a good value.

Not sure where you got that price from for the Flight Jacket quilt? Based on all I've read, the materials and quality are equivalent among the 3. From what I can see, the price and specs point to HammockGear as having a slight edge. I have a Burrow zero and am not disappointed at all. I will say, though, that if doing it over again, I would buy a regular instead of a wide. I'm just done with the whole "what if I HAVE to go to the ground" scenario and the accompanying stress when packing. In a hammock, the regular width is plenty.

Not sure where you got that price from for the Flight Jacket quilt?

I'm questioning the Underground flight jacket 0 degree for $234 as well. That price doesn't sound right, or you're not doing apples/apples comparison.

An HG 0* Burrow with 16 oz. of 850 fill water-resistant goose down is $279 and 21.6 oz. total in the standard width (50") x length (78"). For the equivalent 0* rated Flight Jacket (50" x 78") using 21 oz HyperDRY 850 goose down, it's $389.95. I don't know why an HG 0* Burrow requires only 16 oz. of fill while the UGQ requires 21 oz. of down. Even if you got an HG 0* Burrow with 21 oz. of 850 fill down, it would still be cheaper at $324. Am I missing something?

I own three HG topquilts, and I must admit, the Argon is very soft and comfortable against the skin.
