Linville Gorge Route Plans. Need Help!

I would like to plan a 3-4 nighter this fall either on the AT in WNC or to Linvile Gorge. Does anyone have any suggestions on a route that they would recommend for that length of time?

Lots to see in either area.

HERE is the best source for info and maps of Linville Gorge.
If going to the gorge a good starter hike on the east side is from Table rock area to Wolf pit, 2 day, 1 night, shuttle needed.
If you want 3 nights Sitting Bear to Wolfpit.
West side or loop in at Pinchin, loop all around the north end and out at table rock, still need a shuttle or 2 cars.
If you have river crossing experience, and the river is low enough, you can cross at numerous places. again best info on LVG.net

And the National Geographic, and forest service maps, will get you into more trouble than help you out

So far as I know, you can't stay in Linville Gorge more than two nights. That's against the rules.

I saw that restriction also, but I'm unclear if that only applys from May-Oct 31. It seems you don't need camping permits after Oct 31st. I will have to call them to see if that lifts the 2 night limit.

Great thing about the Gorge...you can do two days down one trail/loop...back to the car and go to another trail head.
So many trip choices there. I have a lot of Gorge Trips in my Trip Reports.....http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL42A47C8FBAB9C49A
And yes there is no good detail in that Nat Geo map.
