    Whats a woobie?

    Hey
Ive been trying to figure out if I want to get a TQ for summer. Ive been reading some posts here and agree with the thought that a TQ might just be overkill for most of my summer hangs. So I see a lot of you talk about a woobie....what is that? A poncho liner? Could someone maybe posta link or a pic as an example?
Sorry....a lot of this lingo is new to me.
    Thanks!

I didn't know that lingo either, but I think I know this...get a summer weight TQ. Its more than you need for the summer, but you won't have a miserable night being cold. Push it off as not needed, which is a lot easier than scrounging for packed rags at 0300...

    Yep, it's a poncho liner.
    Here's one http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...liner?a=372697
These are very nice - I have had some from other sources that were very thin.

I made one into a top quilt by cutting it a little bit narrower and sewing the cutoff to the end as a foot box.
Easily gets me into the upper 40's.
As an under quilt a single layer is only good to the upper 50's for me.

    Ahhh...thnx guys!
Now I recognize them. Ive used one before. Not for sleeping but as an extra blanket to wrap around by campfire, etc. Very useful.....just never knew they were called a woobie.
Ill go pick one up from the surplys store.
    Thnx!

I like mine down to about 60...lower than that and I'm too cold.

I also like it because it is a blanket I am willing to take outside, unlike my living room couch blankets.

Also, someone sells a "doobie", which is a double thick woobie.
