    Two sided footbox DIY

Anyone have any experience with a diy foot box? Has anyone ever considered making an extra long hammock and putting a foot box on both sides of the foot end so that you can change the way you are laying in your hammock during the night. I don't sleep in one place so this seems like it would be a good option for me. Plus the shock line in both sides would take up the extra slack in the hammock. Thoughts anyone?

TZBrown started a good thread on a footbox on a single side here

Here is the challenge with two sided foot boxes. The act of installing the triangle piece for the foot box shortens that side of the hammock rather significantly. This is the reason there is a wall of fabric next to the occupant on the foot box side. The height of the wall would make it very difficult to enter & exit. But more importantly, you would probably rip the fabric hem that is already stressed, even without you sitting on it.

There are some old threads discussing this concept. Some ideas thrown around was a zippered footbox or some other way to "open" it for egress.

All that being said, I don't want to discourage you. As a matter of fact, I would love you to solve this problem because I want such a hammock! So, take the challenge!

The Knotty mod is kind of a foot box. Would something like that work for you?
I alway thought Brandon put the triangle piece in the foot box so the bug net would look nicer.

I actually have an idea on how to do this and I have just enough fabric to test my theory. I will give it a try.

My idea is actually kind of a hybrid of the knotty mod and the TZBrown triangle. I will post pics of my results.

I make all my hammocks using hangnout's dual foot box method. I totally love it!

So if I understand the video right, with Hangnouts method, you don't lose any length on the hammock. The "arched" bunches up together to form the foot box and also takes up the side slack for the rest of the hammock. Is this right?

Right! Works great and can enter/exit the hammock on both sides
