Hi all - New to the Forms.

I have been using a Hammock (eno) for about 6mo so far and hope i never see another tent again. I do alot of jeep 4x4 rock crawling in north GA and up in TN. i made a dirty dog for when i go and there are few
trees by our camp site, but so far i love it.

i use the new eno JungleNest hammock with the built in bug net, i started with a eno double nest and a bug net and tarp, but once the junglenest came out i wanted it as to not mess with another thing.. so i passed
the double nest and bugnet to my son. I also have a Pro Rain Fly XL for my tarp.

just wanted to say hi, and will be camping at cumberland island in Feb with a group of people, so i will need to get an underquilt i think to help as it will be much colder than im used to. in march when i started this
we only had a few cold nights, and i was fine using my sleeping bag, and an insullated pad under.

i use the atlas straps, but im always looking for more options and ways to better my hammock camp site.

this is a great site, i would love to build a lighter smaller "no trees" device as the wood and poles tend to take up some space in the jeep i would rather use for Beer.

    hope to learn alot here.

    Welcome, Aluminum pole stands?

Hi from Texas. As I am sure you have discovered a great way to hang is from the top of the jeep to a tree or tripod, but not fun to need to take it down when you leave for fun in the the daytime.

If you have not read through this thread for ideas on lighter and more compact ideas for hammock stands it may be worth your time:

welcome, from pittsburgh. i have an ENO sn and dn and love them both. it's simple, comfortable for me, and light enough to carry (weight isnt really an issue for me when backpacking) but you will find a ton of information on any hammock related topic that you can probably think of. and if you cant, good thing this is a forum and you can post it huh? lol

Lightweight packable hammock stand: DIY or buy online?

I have never used or seen anyone use these Handy Hammock single or double struts to hang from but they are probably one of the lightest hammock stands for purchase. There was a 20% off coupon recently but I believe it expired. Anyway this basic idea with metal or wood has been done successfully by many people, it basically just requires very good ground stakes and guy lines of Dyna-Glide, Amsteel or some other dyneema (1000-2500 lbs) preferably, but a 550 cord type III that stretches and is only rated at 550 lbs would not be my first choice.

    http://www.handyhammock.co.uk/page/double-strut-kit

Translating to American English: Blah, Blah, lighter than a bottle of beer, a little fiddly thing, pink string, peg = ground stake, magic = technology, fall on your ars = sore butt syndrome. 1.53 kg = 3.37 pounds.

Personally I would go down to a local hardware store and spend about half this much money on aluminum and galvanized steel flanges and poles and make a similar but heavier and stronger mono-pole system and not rely on little round plastic balls on the ends of strings and plastic flanges. But to each their own. Most of my car camping gear is heavy, like cast iron dutch ovens.

Also a free standing tripod stand works much better on solid rock or very hard surfaces where you will not be required to bring a power drill with mason drill bits, just a casual observation of mine. ;-)

This comment of mine was meant to be in good humor I was not trying to be offensive to anyone or group of people. I have many close lifelong friends in the UK who I still keep in contact with. So Please do not cut out of context small sections of this comment and try to make me out to be xenophobic or something like that, it would just be silly. If you dislike my humor ignore this comment. Thanks
