Table Cloth Hammock Blank, Polyester Crinkle Taffeta

My little three year old girl thinks she needs a hammock and of course she requested pink. I've found an ENO which is rose/brown (pretty **** close to pink IMO), but then happened across "table cloth hammock blank" which is Polyester Crinkle Taffeta. Pre-hemmed. 60″ x 120″ on diygearsupply.com

By the way, a separate note, I found this site from here and he (Jason I think, but I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure) is AWESOME if you're looking for DIY supplies.

    My question is:

    What is this?

    Has anyone used it?

I'm picturing something like a picnic table cloth, plastic coated on top and a cotton type surface underneath.

    Looks a bit like this:

It's polyester. No 'plastic' or cotton. Many people have made hammocks using these tablecloths.

It's not at all like the plastic coated on top, cotton underneath fabric of a picnic table cloth.

The tablecloths come pre hemmed from the factory, you can get them at http://tableclothfactory.com or some of the vendors do carry them.

It is a single layer of fabric, no coatings or bindings.

A great place to start for an inexpensive yet comfy hammock.
    Enjoy.

Easy to make. Sew and no-sew options.

    ccartertn,
Are you using the ring buckle method? I've tried it several times. I love the simplicity of it but I can't get my straps not to slip. I'm planning on using whoopies.

I know, boo hoo me, I have use whoopie slings right?

For this set up I'd prefer ring buckle and straps since my three year old won't be doing anything but car camping.

Any suggestions or advice? I do one wrap around both rings and then in between the rings.

At first I used 10in continuous loops, carabiner, marlin spike hitch (using the carabiner) - Had to teach the kids knots.
Youngest is using CL, carabiner, Atlas strap - very easy.
The last few I made, I used CL, cinch buckles. Cinch buckles from Dutchware - also got my straps from there. This is preferred setup as 2 buckles for $5 where a carabiner is $6 each. Buckles are very adjustable.
For my setup, I still use whoopie slings and carabiners.
