I just use regular MSR GroundHog stakes but will probably upgrade to titanium spikes next year.

Owning a screen and window company...I took some extruded alum. screen frame and made my stakes. They are 1/8 oz lighter than the MSR and twice as strong.

None. I tie off to other trees, rocks, roots, whatever. On occasion I will push a stick into the ground.

I also tie off on other things, but use stakes too. I have used sticks, but don't often anymore since I got MSR groundhogs.

If the MSR are too pricey, coughlans makes an equivalent that's a bit cheaper.

Vargo Y stakes...generic groundhogs. They work better in thick forest duff than the titanium skewers.
