    Thread injector

Well this question is very subjective so don't blast me. I'm in the market for a new machine and I would like recommendations on a sub $200.00 unit.

For example what are your thoughts on this dandy?

    Thanks.

If the best they have to "offer" is a "metal frame and a stainless steel bedplate" I wonder what junk lurks inside. A metal frame (what metal?) is worthless if it holds cheap plastic gears and sub-standard rods and axles. What's the attraction of a stainless steel bedplate? 23 stitches for most purposes are way too many. You'll use only 6 of those tops on a regular basis. Only 2 if all you do is gear making. All in all... I am deeply underwhelmed. I believe you could do better on the local used market. Check my "guidelines" thread in my sig. Others have said they found it useful.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Many people here recommend vintage machines if you are only going to be making gear. You don't need a lot of stitches for gear making and vintage machines can be found easily at Goodwill, garage sales, Craigs list etc. for fairly cheap. Just suggesting another option. You'll get a lot of help here if you go that route.

Thanks for the tips, I read over Revs tips as well and I'm in craigslist now.

I agree, you would be miles ahead to buy an older vintage machine and have it gone through. There are LOTS of bargains out there.

    Huge waste of money averted.
Yeah, pre-1970 is where it's at. Metal gears, all mechanical inside. They just work.

    How about this one?
    http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/4604184763.html

I know I have to see it, listen to it and see how it sews ect. But assuming all these are in order would the price be fair? Also are the parts for these machines hard to find?
