so if i recall correctly cvII is just by campsite 2 which if going counterclockwise on the sycamore trail is right after the switchbacks..and right across from the sign for campsite two is where you turn left? am i correct in this? and are dogs allowed?
It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet

That's the way to CV II. Butters, Kobe, and Codi, will be sadly disappointed if dogs aren't allowed....so they are allowed

Those directions will get you there from the fire tower parking lot at the Trail head.

The link is way long, but you can find a couple routes (I-70 would be my choice) via google maps. My linking skills suck.

Use From Columbus OH (or your addy) to Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower, Norman IN, Tower Ridge Rd.

Hope to see you there. Someone would probably be able to meet up with you at the Tower or at least share a cell number for help, if need be.

Just under 2mi including trail and off trail portions. Takes most around 35-45 mins from the tower. a little longer going back.

There is an alternative parking lot, just past(east of) the Fire Tower on the north side of the road. This will cut the hike in to about 20 mins, but it's pretty much all down hill. A good way to come in if you're packing lots of stuffz. Shorter but tougher going out. No switchbacks, just bushwhack up.

I'll probably be doing the Sycamore loop in reverse thurs or friday, coming in from the other direction. You miss a lot of the main hollow and it's pretty nice down in there. I keep wanting to spend a night in Jones Hollow too, but every time I get on the backside of the trail, it goes over the side off trail and just keeps going down down down, and my knees tell me just to push onward.

Looks good. I'm going to try to make it. I found a map of the sycamore trail online.

    And here's another.

A- is the turn off of the Sycamore trail just before campsite #2

B- is the firepit in CVII

Strange. Takes me right there. I'll take another look.

Seems to work for me. Same map I linked last year. Maybe try and run the magnification up a few notches like all the way down to the terrain map?
