How long of Cont. Loop for gathered end

I have a WB Traveler and want to make some continuous loops to hook to my traveler and hook whoopies to. How long is your finished product and how much amsteel do you start with?

You want to be able to hook the cont loops over the toggle of your tree straps when hanging between trees that are so close there is no room left for the whoopies. I larks-head my loops on the hammock (no end channel). I make my loops about 16" in circumference. With the buries, I use 24" of amsteel.

Here's a good video to answer your question. He even goes over a formula for figuring out the measurements you'll need:

Just made a pair tonight. 28" total length, 8" finish length. I find the brew guys videos helpful and easy to go by. Fun times. Then I made a pair of dynaglyde whoopies too. First try at the dyna. Bit different than amsteel but all the same. My fingers are a bit sore.

Finished mine up last night. Working with the Amsteel is soooo easy compared to the 1.75 zing-it which is what I learned to splice and bury with. My biggest learning curve is getting the taper done well. After I figured out that method everything has been quick and easy.

Started a pair of whoopies last night but made them half as long as I wanted, silly beginner mistake but they were easy to do. Ordering more amsteel from dutch now.

    Thanks for the replies.

Heh.... I burned thru 100' of amsteel quite quickly. Don't exactly have a pressing need for more... but I'm dying to buy more I may have to make up reasons...
