5' x 9' tarp for narrow foot bridge -- will it work?

I want to use a 5' x 9' tarp on a DIY bridge that has an 18" foot spread and a 36" head spread. Has anyone used a narrow tarp for such a setup? If so, did it seem to work ok? It would be less than half the weight of my 10' x 11' JRB tarp, but I don't want to get wet either. . . .

haven't done that. The smallest tarp I've had over my narrow foot bridge
(same width dimensions) is a MacCat Deluxe. In Spinn that's pretty light, not quite 1/2 the JRB weight, but getting there.

all depends on how hard the wind is blowing when it rains....

You can get away with less tarp if you have more weather shield. I made
an uber-light one of cuben---open along the bottom where rain doesn't come in and air does.

only one way to find out. You're coming into hurricane season down there, ought to have lots of stress test opportunities

I suppose if I have a neat sheet for an underquilt this time of year, that would keep the rain off from underneath if the wind was blowing in addition to the 10 degrees or so of insulation value. Like you say, I can find out if I want, but I am hoping someone more adventurous than I has already been there. Don't really want to find out it doesn't work on a week-long hike coming up in about 10 days.

Here's a couple of photos of my 5 x 9. It's not covering a bridge hammock but it may give you an idea of coverage........
