    Size for hubby

I have my 8x4 foot hammock dialed in nicely for my comfort, i'm 5'4" but it is very uncomfortable for hubby. He is 6'2", 200#.

He is convinced that hammock will work, but wants the sides tighter, thinking it will result in a flatter lay, and can't get diagonal in it. I think he needs one that is bigger for obvious reasons.

(When we had it on trees camping a few weeks ago, it was tied at almost no angle and he liked it, and fell asleep in it at one point)

So, i have nylon on order to make him one. I'm thinking a 5x10 foot gathered end.

    Thoughts?

I also have a stand that's 10 feet and works well for my short hammock. How long should I make the top rail for his? 12'?

(I'll end up making new hammocks for me and the kids too after his is comfy for him...)

If you have enough material I would make it 11' long. The 60" wide should do fine. 11 footers give a much nicer lay than even an 10 footer. That has been my experience anyway

+1 on 11 ft. by 5 ft. wide. Some larger people like wider hammocks, but your husband should do just fine with that size. I'm 5'11" and all my hammocks are at least 10.5 x 60.

Thanks. I'll go with 5x11 to start and see how he feels. Will post pics next week.

If he really likes the flatter lay then I would have him try a bridge style hammock.

if he likes the sides tight he might want to look at simply light designs streamliner hammocks, they have a cat cut on the sides with some grosgrain that makes the sides tight theres even one on sale here and do believe its a 9 foot

Since you're going with an 11' hammock, 12' for the top rail on your stand. That way you can string up a tarp with an 11' ridgeline.
