ENO Doublenest on sale

I've been lurking for a few weeks and have yet to hang for the first time. It's still a little hot here in North Texas. I received my sale email from REI a few minutes ago and the very first item listed is an ENO Doublenest hammock for $48.89 (Normally $69.95). From reading the threads it seems as though this might be a decent inexpensive way for me to get started. I'm 5'9" and about 250 lbs and I'm wondering if this sounds like a good deal for me. Thanks!

Sure does, I started out with an eno DN and it served me well. You may consider swapping the suspension out for whoopie slings and I would suggest getting your tree straps from one of the cottage vendors, it will be less money than buying any of the eno tree straps.

You can also use the climbing webbing from REI. You get 30 feet for about $12.00. Cut is in half and sew loops on one end and you have very strong, non stretch straps for the hammock. A simple trucker hitch and toggle, Cinch buckles, or even Dutch Buckles and you are good to go.

An ENO DN was my first hammock and it still get used regularly. After you've tried it a while, definitely swap out the suspension to something with more adjustability and stay away from the Slap Straps.

This is a well-timed thread as I too am looking at the DN and already bought amsteel to make whoopies and test the waters. REI was not initially on the radar, thank you.

Same with the bug net if weight is an issue. The ENO Guardian bug net is 16oz, while most others are half that.

I ve never had an ENO but I just got an email letting me know that Infintely outfitters is having a sale on their SL parachute hammock. $30 plus free shipping-that seems WOOT cheap. The real advantage is they seem to have reasonable prices on whoopies and straps so you get get your whole starter setup at one spot.

All my hammocks are DIY and I have never done business with Ininity outfitter but I figure it looks like a great price for someone just starting.

This is my first posting here. I have been learning so much on this forum for the past few weeks. Thanks for pointing the sale at REI. This is what I needed to get started. I just purchase two One link system for my wife and I. Preparing for a river/camping trip. My friend did the trip last spring and invite us for the next trip. He told us about Hammock Camping and got us hooked...at least me. My wife is going to give it a try. W'll see. I did tent camping years ago and wanted to get back to it. But now, with the hammock. Can't wait to try our new purchase.
