need a little thread injected help

I just finished my diy fronkey bug net (thanks for the tutorial fronkey) and it came out so good I couldn't believe I sewed it! Now I'm working on converting a synthetic sleeping bag into an uq for a friend and now that I'm sewing the grosgrain around the perimeter I'm having a problem with my stitches. It seems that I'm getting loops underneath as I sew. I'm using a brother xl-2600i, if that matters at all.

You have to tighten the top tension from the spool. That will take care of that problem. Heavier/thicker material needs higher tension. Lighter/thinner material needs lower tension. Leave the bobbin tension alone. It is not part of the problem
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I tried tightening the top tension, but I guess not enough. My machine doesnt appear to have a lower adjustment. I'll give it a try. Thanks a bunch!

Crank the top tension all the up and then go from there. First make sure your work is not too thick. Here's how to tell. Lower the presser foot on to the thickest part of the seam. Then pull on the top thread. If there is no tension on the thread the work is too thick.

Ramblinrev thank you. I had a feeling it was a tension problem, but never expected to have to go as high as I did. I wound up with the tension cranked all the way up and the seams are now working out perfectly. Thanks for the tip on the work thickness - hopefully I can remember that down the road. That's why I came to hammockforums first - I know our members know their stuff!
