Does anybody use Cinch Buckles with Whoopie Slings?

The trees I encounter while backpacking can use up most of my 12' tree straps and are usually spaced pretty far apart.

To go all webbing would be to carry a lot of webbing.

I'm using Dutch Buckles now in place of a Marlin Spike Hitch but they are pretty difficult to adjust and would be next to impossible to adjust with gloves on.

Instead of the continuous loop on the Cinch Buckle, what about attaching a Whoopie Sling instead using a soft shackle?

Maybe what I really need is the G Clip. But they aren't available on the site anymore.

Well it looks like I might end up spending even more on Dutch gear...

To do the setup in the "lightest possible" way to still keep 'biners in the suspension I am probably going to end up buying some Dutch biners to go between the hammock continuous loops and the loops on the cinch buckles so I can still easily install/remove my bug net as needed and also use my turtledog stand easily. I just bought the Neutrino biners last week... but what the heck.

I wonder if there is a special discount for placing more than one order per week for 3 weeks straight?

Just an idea, but I leave my bug net on all buggie season. That way, I only have to thread the suspension through once at the beginning and once at the end of bug season.

I use the hammock just for lounging while watching my wife play soccer or when doing day hikes... so the bug net isn't really necessary all the time. I also kind of prefer getting everything setup first before putting the bug net on - just makes it a bit easier as a relative newbie

Just leave them threaded and attached to the hammock. I stuff my hammock in my double sided bag, then wind up the straps and put them on top of both ends so they are easily accessed.

Yes---its the biggest advantage of the system. I use a "knight bag" at the end to stuff the straps into. Click the Paw Bag link on my signature and you'll see what that concept looks like. A pawn bag is a small open ended stuff sack on each tarp guyline (and hammock tie out on my HH). The Knight bags are just bigger pawn bags at the end of the hammock that the straps go into.

    OK, that makes sense.

I'm pretty happy with my straps and rings but have been dropped a few times when I've slipped up and not added the slippery half hitch. My youngest daughter sometimes doesn't quite get the SHH right. Funny, I always remember to check hers but forget mine. Sounds like the cinch buckles would eliminate that problem.

I'd still recommend the SHH, no matter which you are using, I've had my straps slip with cinch buckles, too. I found descender rings to be too fiddly and difficult to adjust after a load has been applied.

I just built a new DIY tablecloth and used Dutch web/buckle suspension on it. WOW! Easy set up & tear down.

I tried out the Dutch set up because when my HH suspension starts showing wear from the current rings I am using my thought was to replace the HH suspension with the Dutch set up. I am now thinking that I just might not wait for the HH suspension to show wear!

While it might not be the lightest set up, it has got to be one of the quickest to put up.

My cinch buckles, dutch clips, and 15' straps arrived last night and I headed down to the basement right away to string them up. REALLY like the Dutch clips - they make attaching to the "trees" (or poles in my basement) so simple! As I mentioned at the beginning I ended up using a carbiner to attach to the loops on the cinch buckles for ease of use with my bug net, and it was very easy to set up and adjust. I also like the idea of the carabiner being a bit of a blockade for water running down the suspension if it happens to make it past the cinch buckle. I know that isn't likely - but it helps me justify the added link in the system
