My Son-in-Law and I did a five-day, four-night backpacking trip in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in August 2014.
We entered at the Benchmark Trailhead on the East side. Following the Continental Divide Trail, we ultimately reached (on Day Three) the saddle just North of the Southern boundary of the "No Camping Zone." From that point, we had an excellent view of the Chinese Wall.
This was my Son-in-Law's first hammock-hang. On the morning of our second day, when I asked him how he'd slept, he said it was the most comfortable night's sleep he has ever had on the trail.
I think I have made a convert.
(I used my good ol' Hennessy Expedition Asym. He used a brand-new Hennessy Ultralight.)
We had originally planned to hike quite a bit further but weather reports caused us to exercise discretion. When we got out, the NWS was calling for severe winter-like weather above 6000 ft. Had we continued as originally planned, most of our trip would have been above 7000 ft. I think we made the right decision.
All told, our out-and-back trip was about 50 miles.
I will try to put a few pics up. Wish me luck.
