I've been looking for a solution to my heavy pack. Who on here uses a Nunatak quilt? Did you have any customization done? I would like to have one that has a footbox up to my waist, for use with a torso UQ.

I'm using a Nunatak Specialist custom made for me at 6'1", 1oz overfill, 0.8oz Pertex in and out. It weighs 16.5oz and is great in (or out of) a hammock, although I don't think that having a foot box as long as you described would be ideal, for hammock use anyway. Tom will make the quilt any way that you want, and since all Nunatak quilts are custom the extra charge will be minimal or non-existent.
I ♥ my Warbonnet
What kind of bottom insulation are you using, Quoddy?
I have an old Warbonnet Torso UQ that goes to my thighs. I always use whatever bag in quilt mode, zipped up to my waist, or even higher. I don't like pads, and have slept pretty warm w/o one, so far, but that could be because I use a 15F WM bag and ID Hotsox booties for down to low 20sF.
I'm using a Yeti. That combined with the Nunatak should work well, at least into the upper 20's.

Does the Nunatak's footbox coverage overlap the Yeti's thigh coverage?
If I don't overlap coverage between my topquilt layer and underquilt layer, my bottom gets cold.
I have nuatuk oq and uqthe oq has the foot box and is used as a quilt, the uq I took off the foot box and it makes about a 3/4 uq. as the oq still has the foot bax I don't need the full length uq. I put stretchis arround th uq it makes a very nice duo and wieghs abou t apound eadh tothal 32 oz. gnome
if the quilt is wide enough, shouldn't you just be able to tuck it in under your thighs like you do at your sides?
Yeah, it works A LOT better than I ever thought it would. I've used my No Sniveler once in the upper 20's (about what it is rated for) while wearing a JRB Hood. No drafts, just warmth. I was certain a Rock Wren type bag was warmer than any quilt. I still believe it would be for me sleeping on the ground because I toss a lot on the ground. In a hammock there is no difference for me. A quilt with the same loft is just as warm and several ounces lighter.
i haven's used a traditional bag in a hammock since switching to quilts, spring summer winter fall.
