Your requirements are unique so approach it that way is my advice

Grannypat gave the best advice of all, IMO. Hopefully as you read articles and books and threads you will begin to understand what your unique requirements are. I'm not sure if camping hammocks have more options and features than tents but it seems that way to most people. They may be more reconfigurable and adjustable in some ways. Also there are fewer "hammock experts" in local camping stores then there are tent, sleeping bag and backpack specialists.

So Welcome to HF and don't get overwhelmed, just take it one step at a time.

Welcome from a great state of hanging opportunity. A life long friend suggested hammocks to me and I jumped right in with a Hennessy Deep Jungle. We bushwhacked down a river bank in the hot summer and stopped at the first possible hanging spot totally exhausted. I do not know knots so I used big washers I had in my tool box to secure the cords that the hammock comes with. Since learned about amsteel, cinch buckles, straps, and so much more. I said all that to say you are on a never ending journey and hammocks are great. That first night on the river I slept 12 hours and have not looked back. It is a fun journey.
