IN > Hoosier National Forest>Oct. 24-26>Hoosier Halloween Hang

Alright y'all, it's official. The 2014 Hoosier Halloween Hang with be Oct. 24-26 at CVII. This is the same location as the last few Hoosier hangs.

I have copied the sign-up sheet from the Spring Hang. Please add your info to it HERE

Location (Stolen from previous hang thread)

The Trailhead is at the tower on Tower Road. Get there by taking 135 South from the east side of Bloomington. Crescent Valley is not on any trail but has to be bushwhacked to, about a 10 or 15 minute cross country walk up a draw. The exact instructions will be posted as we get closer to the weekend, but the valley lies inside the loop that forms the Sycamore Branch trail. Basically, take the Sycamore Branch going CCW. Hike to the sign that says Camp 2. Here you leave the main trail and head North up the draw following the general path of the creek.
Below is the coordinates from Jerry the Hiker last year.

I'll be there. Not sure which day... depends on whether i can switch my days off.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

I'll be down sometime Saturday. Got a birthday dinner and show in Indy Friday night that I can't miss.
Also, I gonna bow out of running the gear drawing on this one.
    Directionally challenged...comicly so.

Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.

Alright, so I'm new here at the forums... Just recently began hammock camping( just this summer), however I've been camping and backpacking for quite awhile. I'm going to try to make it to the hang. I've been on the sycamore and I'm sure I can find the valley but for me it's really going to depend on the temp. It's such a short hike in I figure I could carry just about anything I need. I don't have an underquilt so I'll have to make due... I'm still just using a big ol' blue tarp at least until I get around to some winter projects... Looking forward to it though!

crinoind, welcome to the forum, and yes, do come down to this hang. No one cares what you have for a rig, even those short pointy groundling things are welcome. You will certainly be interested to see what else shows up. You'll get a chance to see and try out for the asking, several different maker's and models, and a slew of DIY rigs as well.

    Hope to see you there.

Crinoid, welcome to the forums! When I first started I rocked the big blue tarp, as seen in my Avatar. I went to my first hang last October and met some great people! Everybody is friendly and willing to help answer any questions. There is a great sense of community and you quickly realize that a lot of hangers have a DIY mentality. I recently made a hammock and tarp, which turned out really nice. Coming in the mail this week are materials for making a decent synthetic under quilt. Will see how that goes, then maybe I will conquer a down UQ. You might want to consider a poncho liner, reflectix and sleeping pad combo to help with the cooler weather until you get a proper UQ. That combined with layered clothing, some hand or boot warmers and whatever spirits are passed around the campfire will help get you through the cold night. Good luck! Looking forward to seeing you at the hang...

I should be there if my knee is healed up enough. Won't be bringing any growlers of beer in, I will bring a flask of Bourbon instead it is lighter !
