    MacCat Deluxe on the way!

I strung up my new homemade hammock this week with my Hennessy Asym tarp. Yeah, that wasn't going to work. Way too small if it rains at all. I didn't want a four season tarp with doors because I don't think I'll need them. I don't generally camp in those conditions, and if I find I do, I'll look into a door kit or another tarp. Can't ever have too many, right?

Looking at the various makers and reading a bunch of reviews here, I really wanted a MacCat Deluxe. My only hesitation was the customer service reputation here. I've emailed Brian several times about the tarp, asking all sorts of questions and checking on this or that. He has been very responsive and helpful and assures me he has several Deluxes in stock and ready to ship.

So I'm giving him a try. I know reputations are generally earned but also believe we learn from our mistakes and can make necessary changes. Lord knows I've dropped the ball enough times in my own life, and yet some people have been willing to give me another chance. That's what I'm doing.

I'll let y'all know how it goes and will post up some pics soon.

    Kevin

I hope it works out in terms of the shipping and customer service. I have one and love it. It seems to me to be the perfect size, not to big, not too small. I like that it seems to have more width than some. I have ridden out some pretty good storms with it. When I bought mine, he shipped it promptly, no problems, but I have read many horror stories from others.

Best of luck. I checked out the deluxe too. It was the negative experiences of others that kept me away. Please post your experiences for us. It would be great to have another reliable cottage vendor to share my paychecks with!

MacCat Standard ordered on 8/26 shipped on 9/2 and received on 9/4.

This thread should probably be in the OES sub-forum and somewhat analogous to the "Current lead times on orders..." thread in the Warbonnet sub-forum. At least potential customers would know what the experiences of recent customers with regard to customer service and lead/shipping times. Just my $0.02.

Love my MacCat Standard. It's been through rain and hail, purchased back in 2012. Nice to see good experiences with OES.

I've enjoyed mine for years. Brian makes a very durable product that will ride out any storm. I use it mostly in the summer, but have used it in cooler weather. I even managed to close off one end on a particularly bad night. Stayed warm and dry.
