Another instance of the hammock community being awesome.... no one makes it for sale, DIY it!

I contemplated making a grizz bridge, but since I have absolutely no sewing experience, I decided buying a RR was a better option :-)

Thanks guys. Maybe DIY is the best option. I will have to read up on it. I'm not really much of a seamstress but how hard can it be? LOL

Ah, thanks for that. Hopefully he gets it all sorted out before gunner76 starts mass productio
I am not a threat to the cottage vendors. None of my hammocks look as good as the cottage vendor made ones. I have been told I should start making hammocks to sell but I do not have the time and my ability to sew a straight line seam is not going to happen ( I am very good at crooked seams ). I usually donate them to raffles at the hangs I attend or give them to someone I have worked with who really wants to try it but I know can not afford to buy one. One of my hammocks is in the Philippines.

My next DIY project will be my first try at a tarp and them I will probably tackle a DIY Bridge
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

    I was joking, buddy

It's cool that you diy though. I've only done whoopies, soft shackles, continuous loops, and a couple "no sew" hammocks. Fighting the urge to buy a sewing machine!

Ask for the beefier head end spreader bar.

I'm 270lbs and it's the most comfortable hammock I've ever slept in.
Is this beefier spreader bar still a thing? I see this post is from 2014 but am about to order one and was curious...

I think it is standard now. Years ago he sent out some beefier bars to replace the original bars.

What about placing a wooden or metal dowel inside the bars? Would that significantly boost their strength?

For the big boys, what about JustBill's Townsend luxury hammocks?

The weight limit on a double layer is 250 lbs so I'd say send Brandon an email and ask him directly as they may have some new material that increases the weight limit.

The "Big Guy" bridge from JustBill sounds like the way to go for the non-DIY big guys...

^^^^^what he said! Plus one. For now though, the GE hammock is suiting my needs. Maybe if I had some extra cash on hand, but it is not something I need or want enough to part with my hard earned cash yet.

The big guy bridge from just bill is spectacular. Life changing. Happy to meet up with you and let you try it. I'd be surprised if you didn't buy one afterwards.
