    I need UQP recommendations

I want to get an UQP. I have even thought of making one from an old tent rain fly. What do you use, and what are your recommendations?

I have a 2QZQ UQP made of breathable nylon that cuts wind. These are very well made. I highly recommend one.

You can't go wrong with the 2QZQ. If you can sew, they're easy to make. Cost savings for DIY are not that great, but I made mine because they did not have the marpat camo fabric. I'm also a DIY addict.

In a pinch, your poncho gathered at the ends to match your hammock size.

Then, go to 2QZQ. I think you get the picture.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    positively 2QZQ

if you want to DIY a UQP I would recommend using breathable 1.1 rip stop or similar material to prevent the build up of condensation beneath your underquilt.

I think you should go ahead and throw one together from that old tarp fabric... the debate between breathable and non-breathable UQP is ultimately up for you to decide. I've yet to try the non-breathable out myself, but I think there is too much potential for condensation; I'm sure it's called for in certain situations, however. Let us know how it goes!

not to sound rude but there is no debate. It's physics. You release a lot of moisture, that moisture travels through the quilts and out into the air. If you trap that mooisture in with a non breathable uqp, you'll wake up to soggy cold quilts. If you had 2 and put the uq in between them, you'd have a nice vapor barreir setup started.

    oh yeah, just call 2qzq....
