    DIYer in Tampa

I am an Industrial Designer and love the soft goods sector and outdoor gear in general. I have a heavy duty industrial walking foot sewing machine and a ultrasonic welding sewing machine and months of experience in sewing factories in China when I was designing kitesurfing gear out in Maui. I love to design and innovate and dream of having an outdoor equipment company. I love the inventive spirit of all the DIYers here and I hope to find some local folks to come check out what I have made in person. I love all the projects and innovations on this site but haven't trolled around much yet. Looking forward to checking it out.

Hey I'm across the state in Stuart, love to see some projects and get sewing advice. I'm just a novice with a sewing machine.

Welcome aboard from Lakeland. Plan on getting out in the woods this season. We have quite a few hike and hangs during the Fall/Winter/Spring. Make sure you try to get to the Fifth Annual Florida Hang (FHV) over the MLK Jr. weekend. Plenty of DIY to check out there.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Welcome from Fruitland Park. As olddog said, you need to plan on coming out to some hangs. Everyone I met at the Annual Florida Hang was great.
I'm just learning to sew and have already made a couple hammocks. I'd love to check out the gear you've made, share ideas and learn better sewing skills.

Welcome to the forums, from the other side of I-4.

You didn't mention anything about hammocks in your intro. Are you planning on using hammocks for, lounging, for daytime rest, or overnight camping in the hammock, or just in general camp? Or, are you here to make an equipment pitch?

Either way, love to have you out at the next upcoming hang at the end of this month in Ocala. Should be a little over 2 hour drive from you. The thread for the hang....

...is here for the "Summer's Last Gasp Hang". It's an annual event in the Ocala National Forest and we have quite the mix of DIY'ers and MYOG'ers.

You don't need a hammock so don't let that stop you. Bring a tent if your short on equipment, just make sure you can hike it in ~3.5 miles or so.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Hey there! Welcome aboard from North Carolina. I'd love to talk sometime. Sounds like you've had quite a lot of interesting experiences to date.
