So I started sewing my silnylon tarp....

I was doing just fine and dandy until about 3 feet from the end; somehow some of the lower layer got folded underneath and I didn't notice for about 2 feet. It's not a total catastrophe, because I have generous allowances for seams and hems, but I have concerns that the wrinkle in the seam area will compromise the integrity of the fabric or seam.

Is the better option here to just leave the thing as is, wrinkles and all, or should I go get a seam ripper and redo that section of the seam?

Another option (one that I would obviously very much like to avoid) is to simply cut the whole seam off, re-cut the sil, and start from scratch.

    Thanks!

The wrinkle may cause puckering and flapping when in the wind and may be more difficult to seal and caide drips or pooling.. If you don't want to risk that, depending on how deep the fold is, I would rip and fix, then tape or seal the line of needle punctures.

I hate it when that happens! I assume you mean the flat felled seam (or hybrid) joining your two halves. I would seam rip and re-do that section. You want it straight as possible so it can't compromise the strength or integrity of the seam. After you're done seam-sealing, you can smear a little silicone sealer over those stray needle holes to keep them from leaking. It doesn't take much:just a half drop on your fingertip and rub it in until it almost disappears. Apply it on the inside.

I'd pull the seam and start again. If you're spending the time and money to do something, it might as well be done as best as you can get it.

In my experience, silnylon is extremely forgiving. Smear some GE silicone II sealant on any holes after you're totally done and you'll be good as new.

Edit: squidbilly beat me to it.

I'd rip the seams as well. It's seems like a pain but I've found when I finish the project I'm glad I did it right.

Lol. If it's worth doing, it's work doing right! Also, you have to post pictures so it has to look good.

Also, what stitch length do you guys use? And just a straight stitch or a zigzag? I'm using the straight stitch "B2" setting on my Pfaff Hobby, but they seem awfully close together. I'll try to take a picture tonight to illustrate my point (and my mess-up!)
