sounds like the same stuff as mule tape and I use mule tape for my straps on my hammock and my tarps.

on edit: just noticed this is your first post:

I built one out of waly world cloth, cost about 5 bucks. I'm trying to figure the best plan for a tarp to make. I used 2 army ponchos for a week while at boy scout summer camp.

I have it on one of my hammocks.
    Kevlar, about 1/2" wide.

pros: it was free, strong, doesn't wick water (so far)

Cons: very slippery, snaggy (seems to catch on anything rough)
    not the lightest option.

    YMMV

Welcome, I just picked up a bunch this weekend. And I hung on it last night, I am very impressed. Tough stuff. I used a figure 8 knot, then tied to hammock with a prussick, worked fine.
I'm going to try sewing loops on the ends, and just running a single length off hammock, right now its doubled

I used a bowline with about a 4 inch loop, somewhat girth hitched to the ends. Only one line that way. Also used it for a ridgeline.

How heavy is this stuff in comparison to something like 7/64 dyneema or vectran? Would it be a suitable replacement for poly webbing (aka wrapped around a tree) or will it snag up to much for that?
